What is MovieSeeD?

MovieSeeD plays supported Motion Pixels MovieCD AVI files on Windows. It was made by Albert Mark Burdge.

Which download should I choose?

Choose the installer for a normal installation with Start menu and optional desktop shortcuts. Choose the portable ZIP if you want to unpack the files into a writable folder and run MovieSeeD.exe from there. Extract the whole ZIP first.

How do I add it to the taskbar?

Open MovieSeeD, right-click its running icon on the taskbar, and choose Pin to taskbar. The installer creates a Start menu shortcut and offers a desktop shortcut. It does not pin an icon to the taskbar automatically.

Do I need administrator access?

The installer installs for your Windows account and normally does not need administrator access.

Why does it ask for a codec?

Playback uses the original Sirius NT 5.02 codec. It is not included in the download. Use File > Import original codec to import your own supported copy. MovieSeeD verifies it and runs the codec in an isolated emulator instead of installing the old driver.

Is this a VCD creator or a DVD player?

No. MovieCD and Video CD are different formats. MovieSeeD is for supported MovieCD AVI files.

Why do the controls disappear?

Fullscreen starts with the controls hidden. Move the pointer to the bottom edge to show them. Move away and wait about 2.5 seconds to hide them. Open menus, timeline dragging and conversion keep the controls available.

Can I change volume without opening the controls?

Yes. Up and Down adjust volume and show a brief graphic. Left and Right jump one minute and show the destination time. The controls stay hidden.

Why can volume go above 100 percent?

The app can boost quiet audio up to 199 percent. Loud material may distort when boosted, so lower the level if needed. M mutes and restores your previous volume.

Can I convert a whole disc?

Yes. Convert full disc joins matching videos into one MP4 or AVI. Choose H.264 MP4 for broad compatibility, H.265 MP4 for smaller files, or MJPEG AVI. The 3.75 GiB limit applies only to AVI.

Does it support subtitles?

You can load SRT or WebVTT subtitles. Offline subtitle generation needs a separately supplied whisper.cpp executable and model. Generated text should be reviewed.

Will Windows warn me about the installer?

This beta is unsigned, so Windows may show a publisher or reputation warning. Download from the intended publisher site and compare the file checksum if you need to confirm the download.

How do I uninstall it?

Use Windows Settings > Apps to uninstall MovieSeeD. Imported codecs and personal data stay in the installation folder. Exported videos are not removed.

How can I support the project?

Click the green Donate button in the upper-right corner and choose PayPal or Venmo. Donation links are also in Help.

What should I include in a problem report?

Use the publisher’s contact channel on Station 823. Include the MovieSeeD version, Windows version, disc title, what you were doing and the exact error. Do not send entire movies or proprietary codec files.

What is the difference between MP4, x264 and x265?

MP4 is the file container. x264 encodes H.264 video and x265 encodes H.265, also called HEVC. Both MP4 choices include AAC audio. H.264 is the recommended default; H.265 is useful when file size matters and your player supports it.

Can MovieSeeD play my exported MP4?

The built-in player is for MovieCD sources. Open the converted MP4 in VLC or another compatible player.

Why does MP4 conversion keep working after the progress reaches 100 percent?

The frame counter has finished, but the encoder still needs to finish the video and add audio. Wait for Converted video saved before opening the output.

How can I play MovieCD discs on Windows 10 or Windows 11?

Use MovieSeeD on Windows x64 with your own supported Sirius NT 5.02 codec. Import the codec using the File menu, then open the MovieCD or a supported Motion Pixels AVI file. The old Windows 95 codec found on many discs is not supported. Read the codec and compatibility instructions.

Is “Sirus” the same codec as Sirius?

If you are searching for “Sirus MovieCD codec,” the name used in the MovieSeeD requirements is Sirius NT 5.02. MovieSeeD needs that supported codec supplied by you. It does not include a codec download, and not every similarly named or older Motion Pixels codec will work.

Can I convert Motion Pixels MovieCD AVI to MP4?

MovieSeeD can export supported MovieCD AVI video to H.264 MP4 or H.265 MP4 after the supported codec has been imported. It also offers MJPEG AVI output. Successful conversion depends on a readable supported source and the required codec; test the resulting file before deleting any originals.

Will a VCD player play a MovieCD disc?

MovieCD and VCD are different video formats. A player supporting MPEG-1 VCD or MPEG-2 SVCD does not automatically support Motion Pixels MovieCD AVI. Use MovieSeeD for supported MovieCD files, or Disc Workshop to create VCD/SVCD disc images from readable video files.
